Rules & Regulations

General

Xtreme Trail III is a team race of 3 participants in a team,with at least one of the opposite gender.

Teams will race using a set of race map(s) provided by the organiser to navigate to the various checkpoints along the race route.

Teams must start and complete the race as a team. 
Team members must stay together(within 50m) at all times. Any team that violates this rule shall be automatically disqualified.
All forms and methods of teamwork are permitted.
Race bibs must be visibly worn at all times.
Use of all electronic devices other than wristwatches is prohibited (e.g. cell phone, pager, radio, etc.) during the race.
Teams are to follow instructions or directions between check points in the order of which they are given.
The race organiser reserves the right to change the rules or the course at any given time.
The team that finishes all checkpoints and challenges as stipulated in the race passport with the fastest timing including time penalties,wins the race.

Map(s)
Race maps will be provided by the organiser on the race day before flag off.

Teams are advise to protect the issued maps, including keeping the them dry and in readable condition by any means.

 Only one (1) set of maps per team,no additional race maps will be issued,irregardless if they misplaced or not in readable condition.

Race Route and Distance
The race distance is set at approximately between 27km and 30km
Teams are to navigate to the designated checkpoints/oblige to the given race route/travel according to the direction of race arrows/directed by race officials & marshals,depending on the respective checkpoints.
Any changes to the distance will be made known at the earliest possible time, or at the Race Briefing.

Cut-off Time
The cut-off time is at the 6th hour 30 mins, counting from the start time of the respective flag-offs. 
The race organiser reserves the right to adjust the cut-off time as and when deemed necessary in view of any safety considerations and for the best interests of the participants and the structure of the race.
Cut-off times may be designated at various checkpoints of the race. Teams arriving after the designated cut-off times may be required,not to fulfill the challenges at the respective checkpoints or take a shortened route to the finish line.

Race Passport
 One (1) race passport will be issued to each team. The passport must be signed by race officials with the time of arrival & exit at every checkpoint.
Team are advise to protect their race passport,including keeping the them dry and in readable condition by any means.

Equipment
 
Equipments not mentioned in the mandatory list, will be provided by the race organiser at the respective checkpoints.
Teams are to return the equipments to the respective checkpoints before checking out.
Equipments issued will be based on first come first serve basis.
Teams are ALLOWED to use their personal equipments (harnesses, belaying devices, helmets) for their own advantage.However,teams are to carry their personal equipments with them by any means throughout the whole race.The race organiser will not be liable to any damage caused  or loss of participants’ personal equipments during the course of the race.
Checking of equipments listed as mandatory and optional will be conducted on the race day.
The use of any equipment other than those stipulated must be made known & approved by the race organiser prior to the race day.
Teams that fail to bring the mandatory equipments listed will not be eligible to race.

Breach of Rules & Regulations
   The race organiser reserves the right to impose penalties or disqualify teams for breach of race rules.
Penalties for breach of rules may include:-
i) delay start or stop a team during the race.
ii) requests for the team to repeat a particular segment of the race.
Failure to adhere to the above-mentioned rules and regulations can result in automatic disqualification of the entire team.

 Withdrawal from race
  If a team member or the entire team wishes to withdraw from the race accompanied with valid reasons, race officials at the nearest checkpoint need to be notified of the withdrawal.
Teams can still proceed on to finish the race with two (2) members left a member’s withdrawal.However,they will not be qualified for the overall ranking and will be stated as Did Not Finish(DNF).
A single participant is not allowed to continue the race. Withdrawn teams will make their own way back to the end point.

Inclement Weather

If inclement weather(heavy shower with lightning) occurs at the start of the race, the race organiser reserves the right to withhold the flag off time of the race until deemed safe by the race officials to continue.
Should the bad weather persist, the race organiser reserves the right to cancel the race without any refund of fees paid .The race organiser’s decision will be final.
If inclement weather occurs during the race, the race officials reserve the right to suspend the race until deemed safe by the race organiser to continue.
If inclement weather occurs during the race, participants are advised to seek the nearest shelter along the route. They may continue on to the nearest checkpoint at their own risk. Further instructions will be given.
Stoppage time will be given to participants at stations if the race organiser calls for a race stoppage due to inclement weather.The race organiser reserves the rights to decide when to call for race stoppage and when to lift it.

Safety

Participants’ responsibility
All participants are advised to ensure that they have obtained medical clearance prior to their participation in this race at their own discretion.
Every participant is responsible for his/her involvement in the race. The race organiser will not be liable for injuries, mishaps, sickness, death or loss/damage to personal property that may occur during the race.
Participants should ensure that they are well-rested prior to race day.
Participants should ensure that they are well-hydrated are required to equip themselves with food eg. Energy bar, drinks or supplements during the course of the race.
Race organiser will not provide any food and supplements during the course of the race
If a participant feels unwell during the race, he/she should stop immediately and seek attention from race officials. First aid post and ambulances will be stationed along the race route.
 In the event of a medical emergency or other request for help, the entire team must stop till appropriate and effective assistance arrives at the scene. Ambulance evacuation is strictly reserved for the seriously sick and injured. The race organiser reserves the right, with the consultation of a doctor, to prohibit a participant from starting or continuing the race.

Organiser’s responsibility
Water points will be made available at designated checkpoints for teams to refill their hydration packs.
First-Aid service will be provided during the race. There will be First Aid stations along the race route.
All checkpoints will have communication accessibility to the race organiser.
